So I'm going to try something that worked before with an old roller hockey team I was on. In honor of Doug Ness, who first conceived of the post-game "recap" of goals, goring, and gallantry, I'm going to drum up some game recaps for our ice hockey games this year.
The format is loosely based on actual events but mostly based on exaggerations and the attempt to make others laugh by hurting the feelings of innocent bystanders. (I kid. Sort of.)
Here is the first one -- for Game 1, vs. the Stingers. Recap 2: vs. the Icemen. Recap 3: vs. the Longnecks of Bud Light of Anheuser-Busch Inc. Recap 4: vs. those wily Wildcats Recap 5: vs. them thar' swooping Eagles Recap 6: the Stingers enact revenge Recap 7: Longnecks of..., part II Recap 8: the Rams of B2 Recap 9: Icemen - the rematch Recap 10: Stampede! Recap 11: Wildcatfight again *sigh* Recap 12: Sting, baby Sting Recap 13: Eagles Recap 14-15: N. County tour vs. 'Necks and Icemen Recap 16: Rebound vs. Rams Recap 17: Stinking up v. the Stingers Recap 18: in OT v. the Stamp' Recap 19: OT win over 'Necks Recap 20: Season-ending loss to the Men of Ice *Tickets do not actually exist. *BBQing and consumption of beverages is not allowed inside the rink. *The Mills "Ice Zone" does not enjoy the company of riff-raff after hours. *North County Ice and Recreational Center is actually -- due to a galactic wormhole -- located in Vladivostok, Russia (What, like you never noticed? Just look at those locker rooms). *Few have actually seen thunder "roll," but "Rolling Thunder" has a nice, formal ring to it, and allows for the use of motorcyclic art in the logo. *Some restrictions may apply.
As you may have noticed, the site has changed. Sampa, the free-site host, did a version 2 of some sort.
Despite an FAQ that made it sound like allowing one's site to go through v.2 surgery would be okay, there were several flexibilities that surprisingly disappeared with the click of a button. (e.g. I cannot believe sidebars like this one are even narrower than before.)
And I'm told -- miraculously! -- that the conversion cannot be undone. Truth be told, I'm actually quite pissed. But free is free. Sampa has otherwise been good to me.
So I need to sort through site "features" to see how I can make do. Except that I don't have the time at the moment, in the middle of graduate classes and Lighthousehockey.com. (btw, I've removed that Lighthouse RSS feed so that you're not clogged with random Islanders hockey gibberish).
But I promise to touch up the accessories when I get a chance, and return to irregularly scheduled blogging.
